My name is Spencer Watts and I’m from Tiverton, Devon. I am 21 years old, married and a father of two young boys. I had a motocross accident at the age of 15, which left me a T10 paraplegic. Since then, I have gone on to have a family and I’m now back racing motocross against able bodied riders.
I am taking part in Parallel London and doing the 5km for a number of reasons. Firstly, because it’s a great chance to raise awareness of one great charity, the Matt Hampson Foundation. It’s a charity that I have been involved in for over three years now and it’s getting bigger by the day! Changing people’s lives for the better day by day! They certainly helped to change my life and I feel it’s important to share that with other people in similar situations to me. Secondly, I get a chance to take part on my ReWalk Robotic Legs, which were recently fundraised for me through the Matt Hampson Foundation. I am walking independently on them which is an amazing feeling! So, over the coming weeks, I’m going to busy training on my Robotic Legs, to make sure I can do my best at Parallel in September!
