Parallel invites everybody to come together at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in a national celebration of diversity.

Once more, we’re putting a call out to the nation for volunteers to support this ground-breaking event taking place on Sunday 3, September 2017. We really hope you’ll help us make Parallel the very best day it can be. It’s a fun and rewarding experience for all and we’d love you to get involved.

The event has a fantastic atmosphere that wouldn’t be possible without our volunteers. No volunteering experience is necessary. What we’re looking for is buckets of enthusiasm and a happy-to-muck-in attitude. We’ll be throwing in a free t-shirt and lunch to say thank you – plus, you’ll be part of an amazing day and meet some inspiring people! We will also reimburse you for your travel up to £5.00.

Everyone is welcome to volunteer with us and previous volunteering experience isn’t necessary. The only recommendation we make is that volunteers are aged over 16 years to volunteer independently (14 and 15 years can volunteer with a supervising parent / guardian). It is a fun day and we are looking for people wanting to be part of this fully inclusive event. We’ll need you on site at either 8am or 9am and we can also offer you free parking. You’ll also receive a link for a FREE online disability training course.

We will ask all volunteers to:
• Be prepared to attend a talk and possible training before race day if your role requires it
• Respond to any requests and questions we may send out in the lead-up to the event
• Complete a Free online disability course
• Carefully read the Volunteer Information Pack, which will be emailed to you before the event

• Crossing Points / Route Marshall
• Bag Drop
• Registration
• Start/Finish Line Support
• Directing/Welcoming Committee
• Super Sensory – 1K Support
• Festival Support
• Support for our Logistics Team
• Car Park Attendant

Please complete the online application form or if you represent a volunteer group please email to express your interest. Please indicate which type of role you would like to do.

On receiving your application, we will be in touch with further information explaining your role on the day. Prior to the event taking place on Sunday 3, September, all volunteers must complete an online disability course and attend a briefing. If you have any questions prior to the event, please contact us at

Please submit your online application to become a Parallel volunteer no later than Wednesday 23rd August 2017 at 12pm.

Volunteering is a great opportunity to feel part of the event and Parallel would like to give a HUGE thank you to all volunteers. We are excited for you to join the celebrations for an unforgettable day out.
